From October 1st- October 13th you can nominate yourself for this year’s Executive Council. In order to qualify to run for one of the 7 executive positions (President, Vice President (VP) online, VP on campus, VP finance, VP communication, VP Engagement, VP Executive Administration) you must currently be a RRUSA member enrolled in an on-campus or blended full-time undergraduate program.

2. Become a Program Rep

In order to become a program rep you must be an undergraduate student currently enrolled and in good standing, in the proposed program. A program rep represents all cohorts in their program area. Online/blended options are considered their own program and are not coupled with on-campus delivery options. Programs with 70 or more students, are eligible to have 2 Program Reps.

3. Become the Indigenous Student Rep

The Indigenous Student Rep is a new Council position. The Indigenous Student rep represents the Indigenous members of RRUSA. To be eligible for this position, you must be a RRUSA member of good standing who self-identifies as an Indigenous person of North America. We are so excited to include this new position in our Student Council for the year 2020-2021!

To submit a nomination for a RRUSA Council position, please fill out the form between October 1 and 13 under the Elections menu.

FAQs

Joining the RRUSA Executive:

1. Can I nominate myself? Yes you can. We expect all nominations are from the individual running for that role.

2. What are the time commitments for the positions? Each position is unique and each year is different. We hope that those students running for a leadership position will be as engaged as time permits. Those individuals in key leadership positions are expected to attend all monthly meetings of the council, and be engaged in the areas they represent (i.e. VP engagement should be active with the social committee).

3. What if I am an online student in a blended program? We encourage our executive team to be made up of blended students and on-campus students. We use an online meeting platform for all our meetings to ensure we can accommodate all members of our association. Be sure to visit the link above to view the executive positions to see which positions are open to blended students.

4. What would be expected of me? We expect all executive members to respond to emails in a timely manner and attend monthly council meetings, the annual general meeting and the annual retreat. Including those related to the executive committee who oversee funding requests.

5. Why would I want to run for an executive position? These student leadership roles are for those students who hope to make a lasting impact while at RRU. Additionally students have found that the leadership, and volunteer aspect of their role as and Executive, has an influence on future studies and application for awards and bursaries, and their career.

Becoming a Program Representative:
