Writing a strong awards application essay is key to winning awards and scholarships. Recognizing that writing an awards essay can be challenging, RRUSA has prepared a few tips to consider.
Formatting
Requirements:
- One (1) letter-sized page.
- Full name in top right corner of page.
- Minimum font size of 12 points.
- Exported and uploaded in PDF format.
- Set document name as “Last Name, First Name”
Keep in mind:
- Maximize space by placing your name within the page header and using single line spacing.
- APA 7 formatting or other formal writing styles are not required.
- Essays are limited to a single letter-sized page, extra pages are removed.
- Common fonts such as Arial, Calbiri and Times New Roman are encouraged.
Do not:
- Submit extra pages or attach documentation.
- Reduce font size, adjust page margins or change page type to make more space.
- Include a title page or references.
- Use in-text citations or linked text.
- Include an address block, salutation, or signature.
