All Board of Director positions are volunteer, however, perks are provided to members of the Board to recognize their contributions.
The following volunteer Board of Director positions are available for the October 2024 General Election:
Executive
President
The President acts as the face and voice of the Association with the public and university officials. They also chair the Board and Executive committee meetings, supervise the Executive Director, coordinate Board orientation and training sessions, as well as coordinating the creation of the strategic plan.
Vice-President Finance & Services
The VPFS oversees the association’s finances, health & dental plan, and U-Pass program. The VPFS is responsible for developing the annual budget, monitoring the association’s award and bursary funds, and supervising the annual financial audit.
Vice-President Online
The VPO promotes student engagement online, liaises with campus and school representatives, and represents RRUSA at online events
Vice-President External
The VPE lobbies for students at all levels of government. They also connect with other student societies and organizations. They coordinate the external communications of the society, develop issues-based policies, and review external partnership agreements
Vice-President Student Affairs
The VPSA is responsible for promoting student engagement through developing and overseeing programs and events that support their social, recreational, academic, and wellness needs.
Collective Representatives
Collective Representatives organize events to help students build support and friendship in their community, execute campaigns to raise awareness of issues facing their group, finding way to break down stigma in the broader society and improve accessibility for students to resources, programs and events on and off campus.

School Representatives
School Representatives represent the interests and convey the concerns of the students within their school to the Board of Directors. School representatives must be a student in one of the programs they represent.

Directors
Director-At-Large
At-Large directors are a member of the Board of Directors but do not have a specific portfolio like a school or collective representative would. The goal is for them to focus primarily on the governance of the organization as a whole.
Commitment & Duties
Election terms are until the next General Election, approximately 12 months in length. Time commitment varies for each position on the board based on their duties and responsibilities as well as the needs of their constituency or collective.
- Executive (Vice-Presidents) – Up to 4 hours per week
- Director-At-Large – Up to 6 hours per month
- Collective Representatives – Up to 4 hours per month
- School Representatives – Up to 4 hours per month
Board members meet on a monthly basis and the Executive additionally meet biweekly.
