Executive Roles

President

Either an on-campus or online student who is elected into a 12-month term may fill the position of RRUSA President. The main responsibilities of this role are administrative in nature; the President will attend and preside all meetings of the Council; be the official liaison between the Council and the University and other external agencies (working in tandem with the Student Services Coordinator); be an ex-officio member of all Association Committees; prepare and submit the Annual General Report; oversee budget and funding requests alongside VP Finance; execute any other duties that may be assigned from time to time by the members or Council; be one of the signing authorities for the Association; be responsible for the operation and well-being of the Student Association; act in the best interest of the Association; and advocate for the well-being and best interest of all members of the Association.

Vice President, On Campus

Vice President, Online

An elected on-campus student will hold the position of RRUSA VP On Campus for a 12-month term. The VP On Campus will solely serve the on campus cohort representatives and students. The VP On Campus will attend all Annual General, monthly General, and Special meetings and Council retreats; oversee the activities of on-campus cohort reps; assist President in preparation of the Annual General Report; ensure the well-being and engagement of on-campus cohort reps; request feedback from on-campus cohort reps prior to each General Council meeting; report on the state of on campus Association members during each General Council meeting; liaise between on campus Association members (including cohort reps) and the Executive Council; be one of the signing authorities for the Association; execute any other duties that maybe assigned from time to time by the members of Council; and act within the best interests of the Association.

An elected online student will hold the position of RRUSA VP Online for a 12-month term. The VP Online will solely serve the online cohort representatives and students. The VP Online will attend all Annual General, monthly General, and Special meetings and Council retreats; oversee the activities of online cohort reps; assist President in preparation of the Annual General Report; ensure the well-being and engagement of online cohort reps; request feedback from online cohort reps prior to each General Council meeting; report on the state of online Association members during each General Council meeting; liaise between online Association members (including cohort reps) and the Executive Council; execute any other duties that maybe assigned from time to time by the members of Council; and act within the best interests of the Association.

Vice President, Communications

Vice President, Engagement

Either an on-campus or online student who is elected into a 12-month term may fill the position of VP Communications. The VP Communications will attend all meetings of the Council; provide a monthly communications update during the General Council meeting; develop and execute a communications plan for the academic year; work alongside VP Engagement to improve student engagement; utilize social media to further RRUSA brand and awareness; oversee and provide guidance to The Royal as committee chair; respond to media requests and public inquiries; write and submit print articles as required; maintain, update (as required), and distribute the Welcome Package to VP Engagement for dissemination; assist President in drafting of official documents; assist President in preparation of the Annual General Report; execute any other duties that maybe assigned from time to time by the members of Council, and act within the best interests of the Association.

An elected on-campus student will hold the position of VP Engagement for a 12-month term. The VP Engagement will attend all meetings of the Council; provide a monthly Engagement update during the General Council meeting; develop and foster relationships with other university associations; develop and maintain relationships with community organizations for the benefit of students; liaise with VP’s Online and On-campus to ensure well-being of students and respond to student issues as they arise; develop student outreach events to benefit both online and on-campus students; request feedback on a regular basis to report to Council; assist President in preparation of the Annual General Report; be one of the signing authorities for the Association; be one of the signing authorities for the Association; chair the Social Committee; execute any other duties that maybe assigned from time to time by the members of Council, and act within the best interests of the Association.

Vice President, Finance

Vice President, Executive Administration

An elected on-campus student will hold the position of VP Finance for a 12-month term. The VP Finance will attend all meetings of the Council; be one of the signing authorities of the Association; report monthly to the Council the state of finances of the Association; keep written financial and organizational records of all student activities in his or her control as required by the Society Act and the Association; render financial statements of the Association, Council or members when required; oversee budget and facilitate fund requests; maintain RRUSA cheque book and manage reimbursements; assist President in preparation of the Annual General Report; prepare financial documents and reports to submit financial records, tax statements and other required financial information to stakeholders (CRA, BC Registry, etc.) as required; chair the Finance Committee; be one of the signing authorities for the Association; execute any other duties that maybe assigned from time to time by the members of Council, and act within the best interests of the Association.

Either an on-campus or online student who is elected into a 12-month term may fill the position of VP Executive Admin. The VP Executive Admin will provide administrative assistance to the Executive Council, and will attend and record minutes/action items at all Council meetings; maintain a database of RRUSA documentation; prepare and distribute meeting agenda (along with previous meeting’s minutes) a minimum of two days prior to each council meeting; upload all approved meeting minutes to RRUSA website; conduct correspondence of the Association; assist in the preparation of various reports and handle submission (utilizing admin assistant where required if the VP Exec Admin is an online student); issue copies of the Constitution and Bylaws to any student requesting it; issue notices of meetings of the Association and Council; have custody of the common seal of the Association; maintain the register/roster of members; update the online register/roster as required; execute any other duties that maybe assigned from time to time by the members of Council, and act within the best interests of the Association.

Program Representatives

The elected Program Representatives will be either on-campus or online depending on the delivery method of their program of study, and will be elected into 12-month terms. Program Representatives may chair a committee as determined at the position start; convey the concerns of their programs to their representative VP (online or on-campus); convey pertinent information from the Council to their cohorts; liaise with Committee Chairs for the promotion of all student activities; sit on the Finance Committee or arrange for a suitable replacement should he or she be unable to attend; execute any other duties that maybe assigned from time to time by the members of Council, and act within the best interests of the Association.
